Why Locals Love Trattoria Cea
Located on the serene Calle del Pestrin in Venice, Trattoria Cea is a charming seafood restaurant that offers an authentic taste of Venetian coastal cuisine in an intimate and inviting setting. This cozy gem perfectly captures the essence of dining at a local’s home, where warmth and genuine hospitality complement a menu brimming with fresh, thoughtfully prepared dishes.
The culinary focus here is unmistakably on seafood, showcased in their exquisite Antipasti di Mare starters. Imagine savoring plump, tender mussels marinara bathed in a vibrant tomato and garlic sauce or delighting in the delicate tuna tartare, its freshness balanced by subtle seasoning that elevates every bite. The octopus salad offers a perfect blend of chewiness and bright, tangy notes, while the Venetian sardines with onions and vinegar tantalize the palate with their zingy acidity and rustic charm. For those craving a creamy texture, the creamed cod with polenta is a sumptuous choice, rich yet elegant.
Trattoria Cea also caters beautifully to those who prefer land-based flavors with their Antipasti di Terra. The beef carpaccio with rocket and grana stands out as a refined starter, featuring melt-in-your-mouth slices of beef paired with peppery arugula and nutty cheese. A selection of local cured meats and cheeses further deepens the tasting journey, while classics like ham and melon or mozzarella offer refreshing, well-loved combinations.
Guests frequently highlight the exceptional attentiveness of the staff, with the owner Amadeo personally ensuring diners feel welcomed and well cared for—a quality that resonates deeply in every aspect of the restaurant. Whether it’s guiding lost visitors in their time of need or offering expert wine recommendations, the team’s dedication creates a warm, familial atmosphere that makes every meal feel special.
Many patrons recount memorable evenings here: Laura Finnegan fondly remembers the kindness extended during a rainy day mishap, accompanied by superb dishes and a luscious lemon and strawberry cake paired with house wine that linger delightfully on the palate. Other diners have praised the variety and authenticity of pasta dishes—carbonara crafted for a young seafood fan, lasagna, and spaghetti with mixed seafood—all enjoyed in a quiet, welcoming space that feels far from the tourist rush.
If you’re yearning to discover Venetian cuisine as it’s meant to be experienced, Trattoria Cea promises not just a meal, but an immersive journey into the region’s flavors, culture, and heartfelt hospitality. The fresh seafood paired with skillful preparation and an inviting atmosphere makes it a culinary highlight and a perfect conclusion to any day exploring Venice.
For an authentic Venetian dining experience that combines outstanding seafood, rustic land-based starters, and an ambiance of warmth and care, Trattoria Cea is a must-visit destination that will leave both your taste buds and your heart satisfied.

We found this lovely small restaurant because we were lost looking for our airb&b, Amadeo the owner came out to help us work out our accommodation. It was raining in Venice and he even tried to phone for us to the accommodation guys. We were so grateful we decided to dine with him, our dishes were superb, nicely cooked and delicious. The lemon and strawberry cake and the house wine were a lovely addition to the meal! Friendly people and delicious local food, perfect first dinner in Venice!

We arrived at the restaurant quite late but we were greeted very warmly by the manager. He explained to us their best dishes, was knowledgable about the wine and was a just overall a very nice guy. He even made a delicious out of the menu carbonara for our son who is a big fan. We ordered fish dorada with vegetables, Carbonara, bolognese, lasagna and spaghetti with mixed seafood. For dessert we had panna cotta, and chocolate soufflé, both wonderful. Great, cosy place to visit with a nice selection of wines (top Valpolicella). Highly recommend!

I was surprised by what I got as “Mixed Fried Fish” but it was very good. I was wanting to try something unique on my first night in Venice and I got it. Excellent staff and food! Fresh local cheeses was also amazing.

We had the most wonderful dinner at Trattoria Cea on the final night of our trip to Italy. The restaurant is located on the quiet side of town, and the space is cozy like you are visiting someone’s home for a home cooked meal. The owner was very friendly and recommended a delicious bottle of wine. The food was excellent. It was the perfect end to our Italian vacation.

I’m such a great place for our first night in Venice. The menu is authentic but it also has the dishes in English as well which I was thankful for. We had the cuttlefish Ink pasta and the sea bass with vegetables. Both were delicious! They gave us an anchovy appetizer that was amazing as well! Staff was so kind and attentive. Definitely recommend

Very generous portions, fast and polite service. We had spaghetti with cozze and frutti di mare, plus a mixed fried fish platter. We also got a complimentary amuse bouche while we waited for our second course. We almost couldn't finish it all! The bread was also surprisingly good, warm and crunchy. Absolutely recommended, 10/10. It's a trattoria, so don't expect fine dining. But if you value good food, good value, and nice atmosphere: this place's for you!
